Convert Images — Frequently asked questions

Which format should I choose?
JPG for photos on the web, PNG for logos, screenshots and anything with transparency, WebP for modern websites where size matters and you don't need compatibility with very old browsers.
Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. Once JPG has lost detail through compression, converting to PNG preserves the current state but recovers nothing. PNG simply won't add further loss.
What quality setting should I use?
For JPG: 80–85 for photos, 90+ if you need near-perfect fidelity. For WebP: similar range, with smaller output files for the same perceived quality.
Is conversion fully private?
Yes. Everything runs via the Canvas API in your browser. No file is uploaded, no metadata is collected.
